Hey mama squad! Need a break from the never-ending laundry cycle and goldfish cracker explosions? Me too, sister! That’s where my Bravo nights come in. Now, before you judge a mama for her reality TV obsession, hear me out! Those Real Housewives (and Dads!) might be serving major drama, but my Bravo nights actually help me become a better mom in some unexpected ways. Here’s the lowdown:
1. Relaxation Station: Let’s be honest, being a mom is a full-time job, and sometimes you just need to veg. Bravo nights are my chance to unwind after a chaotic day. Whether it’s the outrageous antics of Vanderpump Rules or the aspirational (okay, maybe slightly delusional) lifestyles of Million Dollar Listing, these shows provide a much-needed escape. Think of it as a mental spa day without leaving the couch (bonus points for comfy PJs and a giant glass of wine!). A relaxed mama is a happy mama, and a happy mama is more patient, playful, and ready to tackle the next day’s adventures (or meltdowns, no judgment here).
2. Lunchbox Laughs: Tired of the same old “I love you, have a great day” lunchbox notes? Bravo nights spark my creativity! Between outrageous outfits and witty one-liners, these shows offer endless inspiration for hilarious lunchbox notes. Picture your kid’s face lighting up when they find a note that says, “Remember, at school you can’t throw shade like Lisa Vanderpump, but you can rock that math test!” Bonus points if they actually get the reference (fingers crossed they haven’t inherited my reality TV addiction!). Usually for my little ones I look at their syllabus and find some great kids jokes that match the topics they’re studying. For my 3 year old son–I mostly draw monster trucks.
3. Bill Buster Blitz: Okay, this one might not sound glamorous, but hear me out! Sometimes, evenings are the only time I have to catch up on bills and adulting in general. Getting the calendar together for the next month or (dreaded) summer camp schedule is DAUNTING for this ADHD mamalennial. Bravo nights provide the perfect background noise while I tackle the dreaded task list. Suddenly, paying bills doesn’t feel so daunting when you have sassy housewives arguing about yacht rentals to keep you company. Multitasking at its most indulgent, am I right? This is like my weird version of body-doubling with Bravoleberties. Who ever said Kyle Richards was worthless? She helps me schedule my life weekly!
4. Stitch My Stress Away: Who needs therapy when you have embroidery needles and Bravo? Okay, maybe not entirely true, but hear me out. Crafting is a well-known stress reliever, and Bravo nights are the perfect time to get my creative juices flowing. Think of it as a more productive version of mindless scrolling. Plus, imagine the delight on your kids’ faces when they see personalized Christmas stockings you lovingly stitched while catching up on the latest Real Housewives drama. (Is what I’m telling myself on this embroidery journey that I’m way over my head in!—Please leave any pointers you have for finishing a Christmas stocking in the comments. I’m a realllll beginner so any tips are appreciated!) This version of stimming makes me feel creative, empowered and saves my this ADHD mamalennial’s manicures!
5. Self-Care Slay: Being a mom often means putting yourself last. Bravo nights are my chance to reclaim a little “me time.” While indulging in the lives of the rich and fabulous, I can also pamper myself. Face mask? Check. Manicure? Why not! (Currently newly obsessed with the Olive & June press on nails. They last forever!) These little acts of self-care leave me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the chaos of motherhood with renewed energy.
So, the next time you see me glued to the TV, cheering on my favorite Bravolebrities, know that it’s not just mindless entertainment. It’s my secret weapon for becoming a calmer, more prepared, and yes, even funnier mom. Now, who’s ready for a glass of San Pellegrino and a night of outrageous reality TV? #momlife #bravonights #selfcare #lunchboxnotes #momhacks
