Alright, mamas, we’ve survived the first month of GLP-1s. We’ve navigated the initial nausea, the strange new lack of food noise, and maybe even started to see a little progress on the scale. Now, we’re heading into month two, and things are about to get… interesting.
If you’re like me, your doctor probably bumped up your dose. This is where my real GLP-1 journey began, and let’s be honest, it’s a bit like starting all over again. But don’t panic! We’ve got this.
What to Expect: The Rollercoaster Ride Continues (But Hopefully Smoother)
- Increased Side Effects (Maybe):
- That initial nausea? It might make a reappearance, especially for the first week or so after the dose increase. Think of it as a little “hello again” from your medication.
- Constipation or diarrhea might also flare up. Keep your hydration game strong, and maybe invest in some gentle fiber supplements or stool softeners.
- Fatigue can also be more prominent as your body adjusts to the higher dose. Try to prioritize sleep and listen to your body.
- Appetite Suppression: Amplified!
- If you thought your appetite was suppressed before, buckle up! The higher dose can really dial it down. You might find yourself forgetting to eat, which, while initially exciting, is not sustainable.
- Remember, we’re aiming for healthy habits, not starvation. Focus on nutrient-dense, small meals throughout the day.
- Weight Loss: Potentially More Noticeable
- With the increased dose, you might start to see more significant weight loss. However, remember that everyone’s journey is different. Don’t compare yourself to others.
- Focus on the non-scale victories too! Are your clothes fitting better? Do you have more energy? These are just as important as the numbers on the scale.
- Emotional Rollercoaster: It’s Real
- GLP-1s can affect your mood. Some people report feeling more irritable or anxious, while others experience a sense of calm.
- Be mindful of your emotional state and don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor or a therapist if you’re struggling.
- The “Food Noise” Gets Really Quiet
- One of the best results of the increased dosage is that the food noise, that constant nagging thought about food and what you will eat next, really quiets down. This can be a very strange, and very welcome, experience.
Tips for Surviving Month Two:
- Hydration is Your BFF: Seriously, drink all the water. It helps with everything.
- Small, Frequent Meals: Don’t skip meals, even if you’re not hungry. Focus on protein and fiber to keep you feeling full and energized.
- Listen to Your Body: If you’re feeling nauseous, take it easy. If you’re tired, rest. Don’t push yourself too hard.
- Track Your Progress: Keep a journal of your weight, side effects, and overall well-being. This can help you identify patterns and make adjustments as needed.
- Talk to Your Doctor: If you’re experiencing any concerning side effects, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They can adjust your dose or offer additional support.
- Find Your Tribe: Connect with other women who are on the GLP-1 journey. Online forums, support groups, or even just a friend who “gets it” can make a huge difference.
The Long Game: Building Sustainable Habits
Remember, GLP-1s are a tool, not a magic bullet. The goal is to use them to build sustainable habits that will support your long-term health and well-being.
- Focus on Nutrition: Learn to make healthy food choices that you enjoy.
- Incorporate Exercise: Find an activity that you love and make it a regular part of your routine.
- Prioritize Self-Care: Take care of your mental and emotional health.
- Celebrate Your Wins: Acknowledge your progress and celebrate your successes, no matter how small.
Month two on GLP-1s can be a bit of a wild ride. But with a little patience, persistence, and a whole lot of self-compassion, you can navigate this phase and emerge stronger and healthier than ever. We’re in this together, mamas!

I remember being so scared of my first dose increase!
I was on Wegovy from May 24 to December 24. Got stalled, then started Zepbound in mid January. Just got bumped up from 5 to 7.5 and had my first dose this morning. Fingers crossed!
Good luck! I hope it’s an easy dose bump for you!
Thank you! *fingers crossed*
